Fall is in full swing here! We are looking at a week of temps in the 60’s and I’m loving it! I start to crave comfort foods that are hearty and warming at this time of year. This pasta sauce recipe will be making frequent appearances at our dinner table in the coming weeks. I posted this recipe at the bottom of my Italian Turkey Meatballs post, but seriously you guys, this sauce deserves its own post, it’s that good!
I started making my own sauce years ago because I always found the store sauces to be way too sweet for my taste. I like a more robust tomato flavor to my sauce and I like it to be thicker than what the store has to offer. This sauce is hearty, full of flavor and has a bit of a kick. We use it for everything – lasagna, spaghetti, pizza, etc. The best part is that it is super easy and quick to make. You can even double or triple the recipe and freeze it so that you have extra on hand. **When making the sauce for pizza, I usually add a can of tomato paste to thicken it up a little. Nothing worse than runny pizza sauce, yuck. 🙁
Please don’t get the impression that I make everything from scratch because I definitely do not. There was a time when I did make a ton of things myself. I no longer have the time nor the desire to do this, but the things that I do make myself are ones that I really believe are worth the effort. The fact that this one is so easy and takes very little time to make is an added bonus!
How is everyone doing with the workouts? Have you started them yet? If not, I really want to encourage everyone to do so. These workouts aren’t long and are made up of relatively basic, simple movements that most anyone should be able to do. If you are able to get through 3 rounds, that’s awesome! Even if you can only do one round, remember, something is always better than nothing. You are building the foundation for your fitness with every workout you complete. The workouts will gradually build in intensity so try to be faithful to getting each of them in every week. Also, be on the lookout for a sample meal plan that I am going to share for anyone who may be struggling with what to eat when trying to make healthy changes.
